Dream. Believe. Survive. STARSTRUCK!

from Green to Yellow

I just read Candy Pangilinan's blog about her experience of the 1986 Revolution. I have never experienced how it is to be in a crowd shouting for change in the political system or anything that has to do with the process that the Philippine Government is running under. All I know was I wanted to be in one. I have a strong desire for change in the Philippine Government.

I always tell people that I am someone who loves Politics and hates the Politicians. But in truth, I really don't know the true meaning of Politics. All I know is it is tied to the Government and the people emanating it.

I excelled in my Political Science 101 (1987 Philippine Constitution) with a 1.0 rating and exempted the finals but never really understood how it came about -- until now. Reflections of my HEKASI Teacher in Elementary and High School citing importance of Marcos, Ninoy, Cory, Teehankee, Enrile, Ramos, etc.. are coming back. They are falling into place... making me understand. Since Sunday, newspapers run news about the late President Cory Aquino and how she has brought Democracy in the nation. It was until now that I realized the importance of her role to a free Philippines I am currently enjoying.

Let us not waste the Legacy of Democracy, Cory has left us. With blood and tears our parents and grandparents fought for it. And where is the Philippines now 23 years from when we won it? Under the hands of the thick-faced Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Pwe, GMA! Pwe!

I am only about a year old when Ayala Avenue was flooded with people in unity. I was barely four years old when EDSA and the Nation cried out against tyrany and oppresion. I am now 27. And yesterday, Ayala Avenue was again flooded with people crying the same eagerness and hope and thanksgiving for the democracy we all have -- and I was in my room snoring. What a Filipino I am.

Tonight, I will line-up in Intramuros to pay tribute to the Mother of Philippine Democracy. I will NOT miss this part of History. Salamat, President Corazon Cojuanco - Aquino.
